Hypericum - dying?

Hello,
I have planted this Hypericum 'hidcote' about 2 months ago, in a border which is in semi-shade most of the day. I read it should be a relatively easy plant...
Now the tips of the branches have a bit of discolouration - but don't look too bad (flower buds are coming as well) - while the lower leaves are drying and falling.
Do you think my plant is dying? Is it maybe a problem with the roots?
If yes, would you recommend to try and take some cuttings of the tips?

Thank you so much for your help,

Irene

It's possible that it may not be getting enough sun lrene. It does look a little spindly.
The leaves definitely look healthier at the ends of the branches.
l would try taking some cuttings and perhaps even moving it to a sunnier location if you can.
Will be interested to hear what others think.

Yes I think it could need more sun. For cuttings you will need non flowering stems. They also dislike cold winds which could be the reason for the browning leaves. When this shrub is happy you wiil also get lots of seedlings too.

They look fine to me. The red tinge is a common trait of Hypericums. Your plant is very small/young. I would be tempted to prune it back whilst the weather's warm to help it bulk up. Flowering is not really the priority. The leaf damage is not anything to worry about either. It happens with most plants, and because your plant is so small and sparse any damage to leaves just stand out.

Keep it well watered the first year to help the roots settle into your garden soil. In time, Hypericums will look after themselves. They're more tough than they look.
