Are Froghoppers/ Spittlebugs bad news?

Are the green crawlies that produce frothy spittle very bad news or no big deal?
I find the Internet a bit confusing at times. I read on one article that they were a carrier of Xylella which sounded serious 🤔

    The RHS says "Spittlebugs are not a pest, so please don't remove them; they are an innocent carrier of Xylella outside of the UK."

    I wouldn't bother about them, they do very little damage.

    there was a press hysteria article at some point wasn't there. Never seen any problems yet and they're all part of the life of a garden

    Love Cuckoo Spit and little green Froghoppers ... all part of life in the garden ... and important birdfood. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Thank you all. I do find the Internet a bit contradictory and muddlesome at times.

    If it bothers you, you can hose the froth away with water (they will tend to come back), but really no need to do anything — I’ve not seen lasting/horrible damage on my plants
