    Thanks for all the suggestions, those Hydrangeas look stunning and will definately look into incorporating them.

    What started as a sickly weigela replacement has become a mini project to increase the side borders all the way to the end and to remove the patio stones for a new rear wall bed (which actually gets the most sun). Now I just need many more plants :smiley:

    Haha you were absolutely spot on, this is what it has turned into (partner was bemused but I assured her that it'll look great once finished :D)
