Tomato leaf problem

I gave my son 3 tomato plants a week ago, he has planted them against a sunny wall in his small garden where they should thrive. They now have this odd pattern on around a third of the leaves, does anyone know what it is?  I grew them from seed and none of my plants are affected.

    I think that's thrips.  :/
Not something I've ever had, so I can't advise on treatment. but I think they can recover if it's not too much damage. Someone else might be able to advise though.
