Galvanised wire size needed for climbing rose

Can anyone recommend the size galvanised wire needed for support of a climbing rose on a wall. I have 1.6mm think wire, would this be enough to support the climber over time. ?

Adam Frost was on GW on friday mounting his galv rose wires onto his wall. He said use 1.5 to 2mm, no more because it would become difficult to bend and work.

I'm using approx 1.5mm and my rose is about 3m tall now and the same width.
    Holding fine.
