Help Saving a Rose

Alfie_Alfie_ Posts: 456
Hi,

I have a great David Austin rose that unfortunately has come close to death. We needed to put up a new fence and a post for this fence had to be concreted in very close to the rose. The required position for the post meant it had to go close to the rose. I tried to get it as far away from the root as possible and it is about 4 inches clear of the crown. However, within a day of the post going in it flopped badly so I must of snagged a root deep down. Attached are some before and after pictures. So gutted as it was so beutiful this year. I dead headed all the flopped roses. To begin with all of the buds had flopped over. Now there are a few buds upright and looking ok which is some small sign. I basically wanted to know if there is anything specific I can do to aid its recovery?

Thanks

Oh dear. I think I would have cut the rose back and moved it before concreting the fence post in.
If you cut it right back now, then dig it up and move it, it should survive. They are very tough.
