    They are very territorial and both males and females defend their territories fiercely. In our large garden we have several, that sing from different places, so we name them Holly, Laurel, Ash tree  and Cotoneaster robin. They all love mealworms :)

    Great names, they are very entertaining characters, always so inquisitive. Hopefully they forage well because I never feed birds just in case it brings in uninvited guests as I have a small woodland area behind me. Lots of fruits, berries and organic greenflies and grub though.

    I suspect that, as with many species, in urban areas, rich in wildlife, the territories can shrink and they are more content to live closer to competitors. We have three or four robins on the fences, declaring territory. I don't know if research has been done on females robins singing to defend.
