Japanese anemone

True to what I have read my Japanese anemones are quite thuggish and are spreading more than I want them too.  However, they do not flower well.  I don't know if the soil is too 'good' or not good enough.  I add spent compost when emptying pots but not much else.  Also should I use tomato feed when they are in bud?  I have started to dig up some of them and potted them until I can decide where to put them.  I cut off the leaves so they do not lose too much moisture and I can see new leaves forming at the base.  Is this the correct thing to do?

Many years ago in our garden club we were given some. They did well for some years and then.....never saw them again. People have told us you can't get rid of them. Well they got rid of them selves even though we didn't want them to do so. Maybe our heavy clay soil was the culprit. We didn't feed them and when we had them them they flowered very well until they didn't.

If you don’t want them don’t feed them. Tomato feed will just produce more leaves ,if you’re keeping them try an all purpose feed when they look like they’re going to bud ,that may help .

I bought two last year, not seen them since, which is disappointing.
