Moving Camassias

I want to move some Camassias. Is after flowering a good time?

I'd wait for the foliage to die down completely and move them next month.  They don't really like being moved but if you must, you must!

  • O dear, not an option as they are in long grass. I'll have to take a decent plug of soil with each plant.

You could perhaps mark them with a garden cane or similar while they die down, then you'll know where to dig!

  • OK good idea thanks for the advice.

I am not sure why it was said they don't like being moved, they are bulbs that increase in number quickly and need regular digging up, if you don't want clumps to get too large.

Monty moved some clumps on GW tonight - he didn't wait until they died down.

Yes, he said he would pot them up now, let them die back, then plant out the bulbs in August.

I didn't think there was a GW for 2 weeks?

I'd have to wait until August if I had to wait for foliage to die down. They're only starting to flower here now- from about the last week or so.
They're bulbs, so it isn't a problem, as @punkdoc says. I could do with moving some of mine. The clumps are now very large, which can happen quite easily when they're happy.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
