Blanket weed in pond

Hi all - I have a new wildlife pond which is beautiful, but it does have a lot of blanket weed floating under the surface, which attaches itself to plants. I use barley bales and also twirl a cane in the water and get out huge sheets of the stuff. What I'm not sure about is that there is also what looks like another kind of stuff, more like a green sponge, which I THINK is probably a good plant - only it gets all tangled up with the blanket weed. Does anyone know if this more 'mossy' stuff should be removed or if it's actually good for the pond? Thanks!

Some photos would help. Nothing I have tried has ever got rid of blanketweed.

Best think to get rid of blanket weed is more oxygenating plants,  and lots of sun.
you could buy a bag of water cress from the supermarket and just throw it in.  It will clear once you have the right balance of plants.
I had loads of it when we first made the pond, I found it very therapeutic twiddling it out when I was going through a particularly stressful time.

Agree with @Fire Blanket weed is ever present and even more so when the pond surface is bare and open to the sun at this time of year.
Duck weed is also a common problem but I wouldn't  describe it as "mossy".
As said, a photo may help  :)

We only had blanket weed at first,  before the plants established,  don’t get it now.
