What iris is this and will it grow taller?

I was given a few iris rhizomes last summer and never asked which variety they were, only the colour. I planted them at the back of the border, assuming that all irises would be fairly tall. They have now started to flower and are only just over a foot tall.
Do irises get taller once they are well-established or is this as tall as they get? I'm hoping that I won't have to move them to the front of the border as not all of those I was given seem to have survived.
Thank you.

Most perennials, including Iris, take a few years to reach full maturity, so it'll probably reach around 2 feet or so in time.  :)
They need plenty of sun to bake the rhizomes though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

There are dwarf bearded irises so it may well stay fairly compact. We have some which are supposed to be 18 inches in height and there are even shorter ones with decent sized flowers too.
  • Thank you. I'm afraid they might have to be moved as even if they reach 2 feet, would be too short for that part of the border. I had imagined they would be like our neighbours' irises, which are taller.
