Is this a mouse or a rat?!

Have caught this rodent who’s been tunnelling in the flower borders and generally being a nuisance. It’s about 6 inches from nose to tail, I think it’s a mouse but husband thinks it could be a baby rat. Does anyone have experience in identifying rodents please?

By the teeth, claws and tail I would say it’s a rat.

I'd go mouse, because of the short hairy tail

I think it's a vole, bigger than a mouse, smaller than a rat, shorter furry tail, less pointy nose.

Yes Vole, I was going by the teeth! Votes are the rodents that burrow through your flower beds.

That’s a Bank vole … reddish colour back, creamy underneath. Hairy tail half the length of the body.

Rats don’t have hair on their tails.
