Choisya problem

    Bumping up your request @Tall trees as I have one that looks similar with ‘sooty’ deposits. Maybe it’s a Welsh issue? 
    My garden and I live in South Wales.

    Looks like aphids imo.

    If there's a sooty deposit, it's aphids or similar. You can usually just wipe it off.  If you cut out all the damaged, dead areas, it should recover though.
    Poor airflow can be a factor too, so if the shrub's a bit congested, and then there's damper, warmer weather, it makes it worse.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
