Cutting back mistake

WildlifeloverWildlifelover Posts: 380
My wife who is no gardener has taken my instruction to cut back the Geum totally tangerine a bit too far!

She has unfortunately cut it all back to about a couple of inches above the ground - is it likely to survive or do we need to get a replacement?

 Thanks.

It'll recover ... it's remarkably resilient ... but it'll take a while ... can I suggest she absolves herself of her sin by getting you another geum to plant nearby to beautify the spot while you wait ...
I recently bought Geum Can Can

Phew, thanks. Is it likely to just get the basal leaf growth this year now and flower next spring as usual?

I’ll pass on that link to her……..!

You may well get flowers later this year ... give it a bit of tlc ... maybe some BF&B or seaweed soution. @WonkyWomble has had Totally Tangerine in flower at nearly C*****mas time.
