Cereal crop...but which one?

Very different colour to normal crops in this area...rather blue.
id requested please.

Could it be Rye?
There is a biomass boiler in the area.

Quote...."Grazing rye rapidly produces large amounts of biomass."

    Looks like wheat to me … some varieties of wheat do have quite a blue/grey tinge … when the ears appear an ID will be a bit simpler. 

    Another possibility is triticale (a wheat x rye hybrid) which is being grown more nowadays … I think primarily as a fodder or forage crop. Triticale has a greyish colour. 



    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
