Too late to move plants?

Two years ago I planted up a new long thin border along my front path. It's north facing so never gets any sun but everything has grown really well... Maybe a bit too well. Ok, maybe I just over-planted it! Lol

Last year it looked great but I can see that this year things are going to be too cramped in places and could do with removing a few things and shuffling others along to give them more space. Is it too late in the year to do this as some of the plants have grown a fair bit already. The plants I would be moving (to either pot up or move along) are...

Astilbe
Japanese Anemone
Fern
Lamium

Can I risk it now or should I really wait til autumn?

I would leave it until the autumn or spring and move plants then, when they aren't in full growth.

I think that looks great! I like a nice full border, but they do need editing from time to time. I would leave it until autumn too.

I move stuff when it suits me, but it's much easier for me to do that.
The Japanese anemones can sulk for while after moving, so you may find they don't flower next year regardless of when they're moved.
Ferns are pretty straightforward, and wouldn't mind when they were moved.

It does look good.  Take photos and make notes throughout the summer and then move/lift and divide/trim in autumn.

Thank you all for your kind comments and advice. I do like a full border (any bit of ground showing is a waste in my eyes!) But I like things to just overlap rather than some things getting swamped by others. They were all small plants from 9cm pots when they went in so I definitely overdid it a bit.
