  Looks like Hesperanthsa baurii rather than Gladiolus communis byzantinus...see pic below.

  Here is another photo, taken just now as it is closing up for the night.
  I am in sunny Berkshire, and it's growing beside my south facing garage wall, so maybe that affects the flowering time?

  I thought it was Sparaxis, I have some growing mixed colours, and like the second picture.
