Yes they're tough plants - many persicarias (Redshank) are weeds - I have masses of them that I pull up. Yours is just a variety that looks good in a garden, but still a very tough plant. I also recently bought a Persicaria Bistorta Superba - It arrived as a tiny 'bulb' 10 days ago, but is already producing leaves
Good choice of persicaria Pete, I absolutely love my 'Superba' and it's very floriferous in its second year of flowering! Such a useful plant in terms of ground cover and it's also nice that it's essentially a larger version of our Common Bistort!
Good to hear - Thanks @_Nicolas_ I had a huge eucalyptus felled years ago and was left with a 6ft dia. stump. That has finally rotted so I'm hoping the persicaria will slowly cover the area. It's barely 1" atm, but I have high hopes
