Beetroot problems

Hello, could you take a look and see what's wrong with my beetroot. Is it something to do with the really wet weather? I don't know. Is thinning an issue? Ive read some books that say they can be grown in clusters but this is my first year trying beetroot.

We had to sow beetroot indoors and then transplant out. The germination rate was very poor. Today I have sown some new seeds outdoors and hopefully we will get a better return.
We transplant seedlings so that they have room to develop. Did you do this? When we have 2 seedlings together we get very small growth.

  • I transplanted them out and they were looking fine but I think some sort of pest/disease has taken them

I often  get this with beetroot and chard it can be a virus which attacks beets, also you could have leaf miners which leave these type of markings if you see a small grub in the leaves just squash them, all I do is take the leaves off and hope for the best. Beetroot doesn't like this type of weather we are having dry, strong winds and up and down Temperatures.
  • Ah, doesn't sound good... I have another row of about 6 in a long pot that seem unaffected.

Looks looks like leaf miners, squish them in the leaf to help control the worse of it.
