My albertine is in full bloom. Hundreds of them but I can't smell a thing. Is it me or a cultivation problem?
In London. Keen but lazy.

Never seen it anywhere else but  can barely smell wallflowers. I'm the canary down the mine for gas, though.

@JessicaS might be able to help as she has one.

And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

I have an Albertine and to me it smells strongly scented. Are you sure it's Albertine?

I have a huge Albertine thats about 7+ years old and a I have very strong sense of smell - funnily enough I noticed its first few flowers are very lightly scented this year but it dosent normally smell at all actually, and id expect a decent fragrance with the size of mine! This is mine last year, its just opening now too.

    Absolutely certain @Busy-Lizzie .😊
I think I'll ask someone else to have a sniff.

Please can we see a closer image of the flowers, not sure it's Albertine?

With some roses I find that weather conditions can affect the scent. I have a couple that are well scented most of the time. Others seem to have the lightest of scents much of the time but can be very strong on a calm evening when it's been a warm (but not hot) day.

The weather here has been cool, blustery and wet for the last week. Not ideal for promoting a strong scent.

Yes that picture is Albertine, the first one looked too pale.

    That wasn't mine.😊
Many of my attempts came out too pale or too blue. That was the closest but doesn't at all do justice to the real colours.
