Do Cypress trees turn the soil around them acidic?

    I thought to just update... after installing a basic irrigation system, nothing fancy 5 mins every 12 hours four small shrubblers come on sprinkling some water. Been there for 2 months now, grass has come back under the tree (I added seeds and compost), two hydrangeas are there happy, 2 day lillies, and one fern. Lets see if it works. All of my plants are generally revived from discount shelves of B&Q and other similar stores, so if they dont work I havent wasted much money. Cheers :)
