Please could someone advise on my planting a rememberance tree in Dorset.

    You should visit. It is a lovely quiet place. 200 yards from the beach to boot !

    Firstly my condolences on your loss.
    Just to add my two penneth, from the photo I presume that is a very exposed spot for wind. The few trees that are growing there are very compact and have definite lean from being buffeted by the wind from the sea.
    I don’t know much about cherries, so others may be better placed to advise, but I would have thought that you will need something very tough and wind resistant, I’m not sure if many cherries are. Also as others have suggested the smaller the tree the more chance it will have of making it, I’d imagine that location will have an array of very dry, very wet, and very windy conditions as the seasons change
