    As Jenny says, cut back the top growth (you can be fairly brutal). Otherwise the plants will just wilt because you will lose most of the finer roots.

    Ok, thanks. At it will be out of the ground for around half an hour, if I give it a good water regularly will they be ok in time?

    No-one can guarantee that they'll survive, but it's definitely worth a try. They might do nothing for a while but then they should (fingers crossed) start to re-grow.

    Hope so. It’s a real shame that so many plants will be lost, I just hope I’m able to salvage a small portion of them.

    Personally, I'd just go and get some - where's the wildflower (and wildlife) protection laws when they wade in with the bulldozers? 😢
