An extremely busy border- move plants now or leave until next year

Salvia ( nemrosa cardonna) have grown massively over the last year . There were more perennials added to the back and front of the salvias to lend different colours to the purple and as a consequence some of the plants are having to fight for space here .

Should I leave them as is or  for now move some of them around ?
This is the area of the border with maximum sunlight this being a north facing garden .

I would let them do their thing for now and move them in the autumn or spring. That catmint will need more room.

I like the look! Hope my cardonna  do as well. Just planted about a dozen of them. Also envy the cat mint.

Will see how they come up this year

I think it is too late in the spring to start moving things you will loose plants if you do. Perhaps keep a close eye to see that nothing gets covered by it's neighbour, you will have to get out your secateurs and do some trimming.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

If you decide you want to create more space now, I'd only try to move the middle row of perennials that are not yet in flower.  Anything that's flowering will not enjoy being moved at the moment and is likely to protest!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions . Will see if a gentle trimming over the next few days  works first and then decide if one or two need to be moved around
