Fungus on Tree Stump

Hi all - Does anyone recognise this fungus? It's looks more blue than in the photo with a whiteish rim. It's on the stump of an old (deeply rooted) laurel tree. How do I get rid it? Many Thanks Marie

The only way to get rid of it is to dig out the stump. It is one of the bracket fungi and is feeding on the dead stump - all part of nature's recycling. There are many similar bracket fungi which makes identification difficult, possibly one of the Trametes. A closer photo of a clump about the size of a hand would be useful.

There's no need to get rid of it ... it's breaking down the dead stump which will eventually disappear into the soil.  All part of the rich cycle of life.   :D

I also think that it's very beautiful ... like some coral  :)
