Cordyline weeping help

Hi all I have a multi stem Cordyline australis it’s about 10ft tall I have cut back one of the stems to about half the size, on a slant to allow rainwater to run off, now it is weeping sap and making the remainder of the trunk very soggy
I was wondering if I have done something wrong or if I can do something to remedy it?
Thanks

It's difficult to tell without a photo,  but it may be that you will have to cut the stem right back to the ground to avoid the rot spreading further.
If you could post a couple of photos, one of the whole plant and one of the sap for instance, that might help with advice  :)
Whereabouts are you ? A general location will do  :)
  • Hi thanks for your reply, here are some pictures for reference  I am up in Yorkshire.

It's been a few years since l had a cordyline (lost it after the Winter of 2010), but l would maybe hang fire.
How long ago did you cut it back?
  • It was doing wonderful I only cut it as it was starting to encroach on our neighbours space so I hope it stops seeping soon. I cut it on Tuesday just gone

As it's so recent, hopefully it will heal over very soon. I did find this article which might help a bit.
