Azalea Lila

I was given an Azalea Lila in March which had already flowered.  Now the whole plant has gone broen, is it dying. Should I cut the dead flowers off?

Hello. The flowers do turn brown and drop off as they finish. However, the leaves should still be green - have they gone brown as well? Have you been watering it? Probably best to post a photo so that someone can help.

Yes the leaves have gone brown as well and I have been watering it but it was quite dry when I received it.

It's a shame if it was neglected before you got it - it could well have been already struggling. I think all you can do is keep it well-watered and hope it might recover.

If it was very dry when you got it @balees1 , it may never have got properly hydrated. It's quite easy for that to happen, and the best way to sort it is to put the whole thing into a bucket of water and wait until no bubbles keep appearing. That means the soil has been thoroughly dampened, and it's then easier to keep the plant watered.
A photo will help, but if the foliage is brown, I wouldn't be too optimistic. It should be green and healthy.

March is very early for it to have already flowered. Where did you get it from? If it was being grown under cover and then went straight out when you got it, that won't have helped either. Even fully hardy plants need acclimatising at that time of year if they've in protected environments. If it was also small, that's an extra factor in their health.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I have just been to look at it and since I moved it into deeper shade the leaves have now become green and the compost is still moist. Hopefully, all is not lost and thankyou for your help.
