Back from the dead Fig Tree

LatimerLatimer Posts: 1,068
Ok, so maybe I'm being a bit dramatic but I really want sure if I'd treated this fig particularly well while it was in a pot and was just a bunch of twigs when I planted it in the ground!

Anyway, there's now growth (yay) so I'm just wondering if I need to cut it back or anything as all the tips look a bit lifeless.

Thank you!

I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

Our fig given to us for our 25th wedding anniversary by friends this year was taken by the frost very badly. It is in a great area but not this year.
This week we have seen signs of new leaf growth but figs this year...no chance.

I'd leave well alone, @Latimer, if I were you. 😊

I too would leave it, doesn't look like it needs pruning. They may look lifeless now, but one day, you may find they are far from that. Quite the opposite. Personally, I would not plant one into the ground without some form of barrier around the roots. But if you have a large space for it, then that's fine. Once they get going, they will form a dense thicket that may shade out the base of that area.

Ok, thanks all, will just leave it to get on!

@Borderline it has been planted into a concrete slab lined hole 😊

Give it a good drink … they’re quite thirsty so that usually nudges them into action at this time of year.
