Hi,
I am hoping this would work in my new border.
Lovely fragrance strong enough for me to notice this otherwise inconspicuous shrub!
Thanks!!

A Philadelphus. There are lots of varieties   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

It looks like a philadelphus - mock orange blossom.
    Lots of varieties.
I prefer the smaller ones - just as scented but much nicer looking

I have Manteau d'Hermine @Pete.8, which is particularly nice, and more compact. I had it in a previous garden, so it was a definite choice for this garden too. Just about to have some flowers opening   :)

Me too @Fairygirl it forms a lovely ball of flowers and foliage.
I also have P aureus - lime green foliage (in the spring) and covered in highly scented flowers atm.
Both are really easy to take cutting from too.

I do have the tall virginal too (as in the pic above) but it's all woody stems and a few flowers at the top.
I've cut it back to the ground several times, but doesn't want to flower until it gets to about 6ft, by which time it looks like a load of stems with a few flowers near the top.

I've just taken some cuttings of the Philadelphus @Pete.8 , so fingers crossed they take.
Where I'm going to put them if they do, is another matter.... ;)

    P. aureus looks good.  :)
