New to this. Please help

This started growing in my border. I neglected it last year due to illness but found this beginning to grow when I was clearing it. It's grown quite a lot. Can anyone tell me what it is please.  I'm not very knowledgeable so any help please

It looks like goat willow, which is a large tree unsuitable for a garden, especially near drains.

  • Couldn't get all the root because of the closeness to my clematis but it's gone and I'll be keeping a close eye for new growth. Thanks for the assistance

@mvm.scholes7eZE6TVF Agree if it's not all out it will be back. You are right to be careful of your Clematis.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
