What to do about pesky aphids?

joe.shimminjoe.shimmin Posts: 214
Good evening.
My apple espaliers have got aphids and they’re really mucking up the new growth.
There are a few ladybirds on the trees which I guess are taking a few of them out but there are lots more ants taking care of them!
what’s the best thing to do? I’m not going to use chemicals, so I’m thinking of spraying the leaves with the hose to wash them off or just cutting off the most affected leaves. Are there any better solutions that are eco friendly?
Thanks, Joe

If you can put up feeders to encourage small birds they are fantastic at clearing aphids.

You can order ladybird larvae online - the larvae eat even more than the adults! I wash them off my roses with soapy water too
