All I want is a reality TV show where they stick Jacob Reese Mog in a crappy flat with £25 and watch him survive for a month on it. Both my kids have been ill for a week. My daily budget for tissues, Calpol and decongestants has been quite high. I feel sorry for the kids and parents who have to do without these things because it eats into their 30p meal budget.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
What the MP actually said is you can make a portion of food for 30p, this would be achieved by making larger quantity and dividing it in to the freezable 30p portions.
He also said that young people nowadays can’t cook “real” food or budget properly.
Im only clarifying what he said not whether or not I agree 🙂.

to achieve this one would have to have enough to buy in bulk initially, AND a freezer big enough to hold it all once cooked.
I try to make a bigger meal and keep some for tomorrow or try to get some thing like a chicken knowing it will do 5 people today and stew or soup tomorrow for us all (so 10 portions for one chicken).
I am under no illusions that doing this requires money to buy the ingredients to start with, that’s why I don’t agree.
You?
As he is from Sutton in Ashfield (Nottingham) we had to listen to him twice, once national news then again when he was live on local news. He clarified that it was 30p a portion. It’s probably on the iPlayer but I can’t remember the day.
I also don’t think he would be able to live like that.
I was not aware of what was said, but I agree that too many people rely on ready meals as they can't be bothered to cook or learn how to. So they pay over the top for often unhealthy food.
Apart for a pizza once every couple of months that's the only pre-prepared food I think I eat. I made all my own bread, biscuits, cakes too. I love cooking so why wouldn't I. I also have 2x 6ft freezers to store it all. This morning I made 5 litres of spiced carrot and lentil soup. 2Kg carrots £1.30 250g lentils - £0.75 Veg stock cube 5p 250ml milk 15p Pinch of chili and pinch of cumin Total cost £2.25 I get 8 generous portions from it so that works out to just under 30p/serving I bought all the ingredients from Waitrose It's also fat free

Failure is always an option.

As a matter of interest, DO you agree with him?
He said " feed for a day" , not a portion.
“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
