    See pics below  showing Ranunculus repens,...common name creeping buttercup., leaf shape is very different.
    So no, it is not a buttercup. Sorry.

    yes yes that creeping buttercup is all over my lawn. I like the colour but it’s a spreader.

    The  original photo looks  like a geranium that popped up all over my garden last year. I let it grow to see what would develop. I believe the flowers would be referred to as insignificant😊
    They were tiny, sparse and they were pink - I think.
    Not worth keeping
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    Geranium. Post a picture when it flowers and I am sure someone will tell you which one.
