Problem with my plants

Hello!  Can anyone tell me why my lovely Erigeron Karvinskianus Mexican Fleabane have flattened?   It’s as though a cat or fox has been sleeping in the middle!

If you had rain like we did yesterday, that's a possible cause!  When they reach a certain size, typically when in flower, these plants like to spread out by cascading, becoming flatter in the process.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • Thanks.   That’s a shame as they look very unattractive now😕

@moyamackay1 I think they will be fine, they grow in my path and get walked on, yes they get a little squashed but they have seeded there and I love them
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

You can also give them a hair cut and they will bounce back!

Mine is pretty flat except where it's leaning against a wall. I think it's just what they do.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
