I bought them as Meconopsis grandis from Sally at Aberfeldy. Growing in full sun , exposed and half way up the hill. Jim Jermyn the head man at NTS in Branklyn Perth, has the National collection and I believe is in the RHS Meconopsis group ..he has offered to confirm which one it actually is. But it is still too early..no flowers yet.
Pics below.....These are taken at Sally's garden in Aberfeldy...never seen such a fab clump.
For those that have never been I recommend a visit to Branklyn in Perth. NTS It may be small but is a real plants persons treasure trove. This year they are celebrating 100 years.
These a few of the Meconopsis from Branklyn, which holds the National collection...so many different names. So many that look similar. Needs an expert to id them.
Just checked mine. I have two patches of Lingholm, and they are just foliage, with no sign of a flower stalk. In my 'wild' area, there is an obvious self seeder in flower. Could soil temp be in play? An established plant will have deep roots sensing a cooler temp than a new plant with roots only an inch or so deep. My established Lingholm have 2 to 3 feet flower stalks, yet this self seder is only about a foot tall.
Worth popping into Glendoick nursery if you are in the area.
GLENDOICK gardens.....In April and May the Cox family open the woodland garden...behind the Garden centre and coffee shop...on the hillside. Full of rare Rhododendrons and other treasures. Recommended..well worth a visit..Only 12 days left to go.
Do not expect perfection/weed free. Famous for Rhododendrons and acid loving plants...many brought back to UK as seeds from explorations abroad. Cox family...3 generations of plant hunters. Euan. Peter and Ken Cox.

I agree .... Branklyn is a big favourite of ours.
We always try and go in May, but it's lovely throughout the year.
Nice to have a lunch in one of the many nice restaurants in Perth, and go to the garden after.
One year we did an overnight stay in Dundee and went to the new V&A museum .... also fab. ... and Branklyn the next day.
