Help! What is this fungus and is it bad?!
Hello!
First time(ish) gardener here!
We planted up lots of flowers as well as some veggies and fruit plants this year. We've just noticed this interloper in several of our pots:

As some of our plants are supposed to be edible, we'd quite like to know a) what the heck this is and b) if it's going to cause our food plants to be poisonous!
Any insight much appreciated!

They're fungi doing their job of breaking down vegetation in the compost to provide nutrients which feeds your plants - all good stuff!
PS - it'll vanish in a few days
