Leaves are rounded, Dove is closer: either an ornamental cherry or even ornamental plum. Did it flower in early spring?

Thank you that's very helpful we will look up about it then - we had no idea what it could be and need to preserve it !

Cherry plum, Prunus cerasifera Nigra. The fruit makes a lovely jam.

Beautiful tree! Could I ask what kind of soil do you have and what’s the growing condition?
    Would love to grow one!
    Thanks

No idea I'm afraid have only recently moved, but I know the soil is typically clay based around here. At this time if year gets early morning and evening sun !

Mine grows in clay based soil very close to a large ash tree. Its growth is a bit lopsided because of the light, but it seems perfectly happy.
The blossom was beautiful this year, with some blue sky to set it off, but I don't see many fruit. Just 3 last year, nowhere near enough for jam! Something else probably gets in there earlier than I would :)

I suspect the fruit is taken by blackbirds and/or pigeons. They love them. 😊

Yes very few bits of fruit on this one certainly not enough for a pot of jam !
