I inherited it from my stepmothers old house in London. It was pleached against a wall. Now in open country. This photo was taken in 3rd week of august last year in Wiltshire. Nobody knows what it is!

Look out for Apple days this Autumn,  there are usually several round the country.  Take an example plus picture with you they often have expert that can help. Alternatively,  ask RHS at Wisley, or Brogdale in Kent they hold the national collection.

How has it moved from London to Wiltshire … did you dig it up?  That’s quite some feat!

I would contact the National Trust and find out when their 2022 Apple Day in your area will be.

..what did it taste like?  If I saw that apple I would think it was a 'Cox' or some other Pippin..  you might like to look at 'Ribston Pippin' as well as 'Cox's Orange' as a starting point..

It looks a lot like Lord Lambourne.  It looks more flattened than my cox. The only real way to tell is take two or three good specimens to an apple tasting day.
