Has anyone grown paw paw trees in the UK?

They are very hardy. I’ve not heard of many people growing them, even in permaculture circles. Mad flowers. Great fruit. A relation of the sour sop / custard apple.

Looks interesting- says you need 2 or 3 trees to pollinate well and takes 3-5 years to get fruit.

Some years ago I knew a lady who had 2 in her garden.
They were about 12ft tall and rather ugly looking trees with little foliage except at the top. She said she did get a few fruits occasionally.

That's known as the American Paw Paw.  The one that grows in the Caribbean is much nicer in terms of look and fruit (Carica papaya).  It won't grow in a UK garden though!

I've pruned one of my Fatsia japonicas to resemble this tree - it has similar leaves!
