Symphytum grandiflorum

I made a huge mistake and planted this where it now invades and smothers other shrubs. 
Any advice as to whether I should
1. leave it alone or
2. how to remove

    I have this as well and it's much easier to control than the larger comfrey's. You should be able to dig it out reasonably easily and I don't think it's as likely to come back as the others but try and get as much root as possible. 
    I tend to keep it confined by cutting off the runners before they heavily root.
