Thanks @GardenerSuze I haven't tried replanting deeper.  I  will take some pictures tomorrow to see what people think.

@GardenerSuze or @Fairygirl not sure if you saw the above post, any advice welcome.  I don't find them easy to propagate at all,  not sure what I'm doing wrong.

@Allotment Boy Yes dig it up the original root is in the centre, it might fall appart no problem. If you take a look at the stems there are little nodes all these are capable of making roots. So gently pull apart as the are brittle. You will have lots of little rosettes each one can be replanted so that you just see the leaves but not touching the soil. You will need to water possibly through the season if it is dry.
The stems can be cut when replanting if they are long and old cut to one of the nodes but leave some stem to give it a chance.
Cuttings can be done this way too very successfully.
Never throw Heucheras away, if you have vine weevil clean any remaining root really well under a tap and replant as above in fresh soil or compost.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

@GardenerSuze Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately we have already discarded some that were damaged by vine weevil I will know another time.
