Damson Plum Tree?

A plant ID app has said this is a Damson Plum Tree
Not sure as we have lived here 30 years plus and have never had any "fruit" before
This is the first year "something" has appeared
it is growing in a boarder of our drive, if it is a plum tree
I would imagine to save the drive the tree should not be there?
Anyone know? Thank you
