Hedge Regrowth

Hi all, I’d really appreciate some help with my hedges. I have 2 that were cut back a couple of years ago so they now look like this (ignore the scaffolding). I’m not sure what they are, they’re lemon-ish scented when cut and may be conifer - can I get them to grow back?

    It looks like a Conifer. There are very few Conifers that come back when cut like that

    I agree. The best you can hope for is the the edges grow up enough to hide it, but it'll depend on how high you need the hedge to be, and there are height limits on hedging too. 
    If you only see the top from an upstairs room, it's less important.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
