Mel's Mix Compost
Hi Everyone,
I have recently been reading in to SFG and how Mel's mix can be a every effective growing medium if you have the right compost types. The mix recommends if you don't make your own compost to use 4-6 different types for compost for the mix but most of the information and recommendations I find online are from the USA and the products are not available in the UK.
I'm struggling to find 4-6 different types of compost to mix together for the Mel's Mix.
I have a few different types of compost already from other projects which are;
Worm Castings
Wool Compost (Veg & Salad)
Farmyard Manure (Westland)
Jack's Magic All Purpose
Can I use any of these and what other compost should I get to add to the mix?
Thanks in advance.
Jamie.

We have to work with what we have. I've used a mix of aged manure, and two or three different compost mixes. I don't have any of my own compost yet as our garden is new, plus our new wormery hasn't produced any castings yet either, though next year I'm banking that this will be different.
The other ingredient added to Mel's mix is quite a bit of vermiculite. Vermiculite is expensive though, but I managed to buy 100L of course vermiculite for under £40 online which was being sold for reptile bedding. BTW I understand vermiculite doesn't breakdown like compost so I'm imagining it doesn't need replenishing over the years.
