I would suggest the site isn’t slow in itself but the data load very large so it’s stressing out phones. I have fibre connection and have never noticed it to be heavy to load.
I don't find it slow at all but the overall lack of visual cohesion is irritating as it can lead to strikingly unlike pages that are populated by similar results. For instance their report of plant trials are a mess that betray at least three attempts at designing pages over the years. I suppose the problem with relaunching a site with probably millions of pages will be quite an expensive and time consuming endeavour. But hope they find a way to transfer the useful contents to a new format that is more usable and cohesive.
It's certainly hit and miss on a lot of occasions - and that includes some of the info about plants. It's not always completely accurate in that department either. The good thing about the internet is, there are lots of reputable sites for people to look at to get info, and the more you look [generally speaking] the easier it can be to get the best advice and information. If it's still inconclusive, or people are unsure, there's forums like this, as @borgadr says
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fails to load more often than not for me. I agree with @Fairygirl, some of the plant info is wrong, think they just parrot the breeder’s info sometimes. They also still say a rose is badly planted if the graft union is buried, which contradicts what most experts have been saying for decades!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
I would certainly agree about the sometimes unreliable information, but then if you take any given plant and research it on 10 sites, you will get at least 5 different answers. At the end of the day, most plants want a moisture retentive, well drained soil, whatever that might be!!!
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Everything is slow here as we do not yet have fibre optic and even the mobile phones have a poor signal cos of distance form a mast, not that I use mine for anything other than phone calls and messages as I like a proper sized screen and a keyboard.
If I find the plant cultivation info I want is unclear or lacking I find it helps to go to good seed sites - eg Chilterns, Plant World whose catalogues I like - as they will give good info re soil and aspect.
There is nothing to compare with the RHS for advice, info, research, shows, gardens so rather than knock it, maybe members could encourage change and improvement by contacting the webmaster or Claire Matterson, the new Director General.

I thought it was just me! The RHS website is pretty unusable most of the time for me on either of my two laptops - painfully slow to load and I often eventually get an error message saying it's crashing. And I do have super fast broadband!
