What is this little white flower called

And is it well behaved or is it thuggish?

    Cerastium tomentosum, commonly known as snow in summer.

    It is well behaved. It spreads quite well but is easy to pull up if it goes where you don't want it. I clip mine back and shape the clump after flowering. It does flower for most of the summer.

    Good to know it’s name because even the silvery leaves are nice. Bonus that it has a long flowering season and can be clipped into shape. Thanks Daisym and Nanniemo.

    I wouldn't exactly describe it as well-behaved, but possibly it depends on the conditions. It loves the dry sandy soil here and spreads vigorously, but it is fairly easy to pull out great lumps of it when it goes where I don't want it. Where I do want it is filling the gaps in the base of the privet hedge where nothing much else does well.

    That’s quite a nice idea @JennyJ - the contrast looks good. I’ll have to see that mine keeps spreading so that I can use it in difficult spots. It’s my little ones favourite plant in the garden and she likes its name too - snow in summer. Probably also because it doesn’t attract a lot of bugs.
