Removing climbing rose next to house
Hello,
I’m having my cottage repointed and to help with this I want to remove an old climbing rose that I’m not so fond of. The base of the rose sits right next to the house and I’m worried that I might cause problems if I remove it (e.g. subsidence). Any advice on the best way to remove the rose?
Thanks

I would simply cut it right down to soil level and treat the stump with a stump killer.

If you really don't want to keep it, just cut it at the base at soil level and remove the top growth. It will probably be very dry there against the wall so you could either leave the roots in place and rub off any new shoots that appear and it will eventually die or you could give the spot a good soaking and try and dig down and cut out as much root as possible.
