Dividing gazania. Advice please

B3B3 Posts: 27,505
I have dug up, divided and replanted a large chunk of a gazania that was a few years old.
I have some smaller bits but there's not many fine roots. I've repotted them and put them in light shade in the hopes that they will develop a root system before I put them in the ground in the sun.
Have I done right?.

Sounds ok to me. Not a plant I grow, but as long as there's enough viable root, and they're not exposed to extreme heat [which seems to be the case] I expect most will take. I'd have thought cuttings could be the normal propagation method, but not sure.

    A case of waiting.  :)

I've potted up the spares. They look like the wilted bare root wallflowers you used to get wrapped in wet newspaper. Fortunately, the main one looks OK. It was never going to flower again unless I divided it.
