Starlings attacking nest box

    I don't know if starlings do eat chicks, but the ones I saw raiding the sparrows nest (not a nestbox, this was inside an outbuilding) just plucked them out and dropped them. They then took over the nest for themselves.

    Woodpeckers bash at nestbox holes here, so all the wooden ones have metal entrance hole plates.

    I put up two Woodcrete boxes last year but Storm Arwen uprooted the tree that one was attached to. The other one I'm not sure is in a good spot so I'll move it in time for next season. The Woodcrete box survived the storm incidentally.
