Babies!!

First baby sparrow came down to the feeders today!
And the starling babies are out on a lawn jaunt! 😃
I'm happy!

    Lovely. I had a baby blackbird under my feeder today, stretching its wings and tail feathers in the sun. I am currently sitting in the garden watching the starlings (with a small glass of something 🤫) that are nesting in the wall. The mum used to go into the wall to feed them but now they stick their heads up out the wall to be fed. I reckon they will be appearing soon.

    Such a joy - I bet baby sparrows are incredibly cute, @Slow-worm!

    I saw a goldfinch feeding their two babies in the trees surrounding the garden, beak to beak. Then the parent goldfinch came down to the bird feeder, stocked up, then flew back up to them. It was almost as if it was saying "this here is where you can find food when you need it, remember this for later".

    Last year we had the starling juveniles attend some sort of creche in our garden, but I've not seen them yet, but as @Emptyheadtime says, hopefully won't be long.

    Such a cheery time of year to see that all the hard work the parent birds have put in has paid off.

    I've got sparrow chicks still in their nest above my back door. They're getting louder by the day. I've been helping the parents out too by soaking dried mealworm and putting them out for them. They took to the mealworm immediately and I would recommend doing that. The male house sparrow will look after the chicks until they can fend for themselves while the female starts a new clutch.

    Yes 'our' starlings are in the roof, so I've seen them every day going in and out with worms and caterpillars - no shortage here obviously, lol! I thought it was a bit quiet yesterday, then I saw them all out and I gave a little squeak. 😄

    Lovely time of year if you've got birds!
    I've not seen any babies yet, but the alpha boy of our sparrow troop has been dropping "poo parcels" into my patio pots - I like to think he's reciprocating my feeding him by feeding my plants 🙂
